Let's start from zero
In the past, the basswood mushroom industry was an important source of income for indigenous peoples. As labor costs increase year by year and the wood are difficult to obtain, the operation of the basswood mushroom industry has become more difficult and slower the development. Climate change also affect the harvest.
Therefore, we introduced cultivation technology of mushroom sawdust spawn blocks to indigenous peoples to continue growing mushrooms and develop a stable source of income. There is no any learning system or education organization for people to learn mushroom sawdust spawn blocks planting technology in Jianshi Townshi. Therefore, we started to contact the indigenous peoples in 2014 and established a training system and the way to cooperate. We have more than ten tribes from Jianshi Township and Wufeng Township have participated now.
Learning always brings choices
First, we established the Anli Mushroom Garden in the Meihua Tribe as a training and promotion center for mushroom sawdust spawn blocks cultivation and a demonstration farm. The center provides technical courses to let farmer understand the planting process and field design. We also employ indigenous people to manage and assist the production of mushrooms in the park in order to increas local employment opportunities.
For other indigenous people who are interested in learning how to grow shiitake mushrooms by sawdust spawn blocks, we support part of the cost of sawdust spawn blocks based on individual circumstances to lowering the threshold for early investment and transformation. Not only encourage them by subsidy, but also design training courses and counseling mechanisms through visit their farm regularly and care about the business conditions of the farmers. As a result the ability and skills of mushroom farmers can be enhanced to become self-reliant and independent.
Besides the production difficulties, the mushroom farmers may face the problem of lack of sales channels in the early transformation stage. So we purchase some of their mushrooms at a higher price than dealer and use Tatcgugu as a sales channel to solve the sales problem. We hope that by establishing a complete industrial chain, more opportunities will be created for young people to return home in the future.
